1Coolness of our eyes
رَبَّنَا هَبْ لَنَا مِنْ أَزْوَاجِنَا وَذُرِّيَّاتِنَا قُرَّةَ أَعْيُنٍ وَاجْعَلْنَا لِلْمُتَّقِينَ إِمَامًا
Rabbanā hab lanā min azwājinā wa dhurriyyātinā qurrata a'yunin waj'alnā lil-muttaqīna imāmā.
Our Lord, grant us joy in our spouses and our children, and make us leaders of those who are mindful of You.
The story
Among the du'as of 'Ibad ar-Rahman (the servants of the Most Merciful), described at the end of Surah al-Furqan.
Qur'an 25:74
2The du'a of Zakariyya
رَبِّ هَبْ لِي مِن لَّدُنكَ ذُرِّيَّةً طَيِّبَةً ۖ إِنَّكَ سَمِيعُ الدُّعَاءِ
Rabbi hab lī mil-ladunka dhurriyyatan ṭayyibah, innaka samī'ud-du'ā'.
My Lord, grant me from Yourself good offspring. You truly hear every prayer.
The story
Zakariyya عليه السلام made this in old age, after seeing Allah's provision reach Maryam. He was given Yahya.
Qur'an 3:38
3Do not leave me alone
رَبِّ لَا تَذَرْنِي فَرْدًا وَأَنتَ خَيْرُ الْوَارِثِينَ
Rabbi lā tadharnī fardan wa anta khayrul-wārithīn.
My Lord, do not leave me without an heir, and You are the best of inheritors.
The story
Another du'a of Zakariyya عليه السلام. Allah responded in the very next verse.
Qur'an 21:89
4A righteous child
رَبِّ هَبْ لِي مِنَ الصَّالِحِينَ
Rabbi hab lī minaṣ-ṣāliḥīn.
My Lord, grant me a child from among the righteous.
The story
Ibrahim عليه السلام asked this, and was given the good news of a forbearing son.
Qur'an 37:100
5Make me and my children steadfast in prayer
رَبِّ اجْعَلْنِي مُقِيمَ الصَّلَاةِ وَمِن ذُرِّيَّتِي ۚ رَبَّنَا وَتَقَبَّلْ دُعَاءِ
Rabbij-'alnī muqīmaṣ-ṣalāti wa min dhurriyyatī, rabbanā wa taqabbal du'ā'.
My Lord, make me one who establishes prayer, and my descendants too. Our Lord, accept my prayer.
